As you know, I don't 'do' personal photos, but hopefully I am unidentifiable in this...
How unattractive is this shot of me in my rollers (Babyliss £17 from Argos)
New heated rollers aren't a patch on old ones...here are my friend C's 1970s Carmens which had better grip...
Mum was thorough with the authentic (painful) rollering and backcombing - thankyou Mum, sterling job!
This is friend B's hair from the back...
C's hair - finished (below) looked really lovely.
My hair from the back...
and the side...
My main course went really well - I cooked Beef (skirt) in 2 bottles of Theakson's Old Peculier Ale with thyme, parsnip, swede and mushrooms, served with glazed carrots, piped duchess potatoes (Smash) and baked leek and spring greens. All washed down with Brandy & Babycham (a delicious revelation) and Crabbies ginger beer.
Your Mum did an amazing job with your hair! You all look wonderful.I still have my heated rollers from 1981 - they're great though I haven't used them for a while.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pics Sally. Definitely unrecognisable in those! Glad you had a great time and it sounds like you have a good community spirit going there.
ReplyDeleteGreat hair do's. I still use my Carmens - bought in 1973! (also have a reserve set, 50p carboot find)
ReplyDeleteYour main course sounded just perfect.

ReplyDeleteWow, fantastic hair, really glamorous, and the main course sounds scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous hairdos!!! Aren't mom's great?!? They seem to be able to fill any shoes, at the last minute, and do a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteYour old rollers photo made me smile - my mom and my nan BOTH used to have sets just like that when I was little! :-)
Glad you all had a fun time!!! Doesn't it feel 'naughty' getting home from a night out when the birdies are waking up??? ;-)

How interesting to see the 50's hair, I wasn't sure what it would be like, I could picture 40's hair but I suppose I was thinking Grease for 50's hair. Well done to your mum for saving the day!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great - wish I had kept my heated rollers! Main course sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteLiz @ Shortbread & Ginger

ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun evening/morning was had by all! Did you drink the brandy and babycham in the one glass or separately? Love you hair-do, actually all 3 were great. Well done your Mum!
