Yarn Shop Day & simple pleasures

Yarn Shop day was Saturday 3rd May - did you visit a wool shop? I did -  I visited Needlecase at Tadcaster, which I've blogged about before. They had a plentiful supply of tea and cake going on, as well as a knitted flowers workshop - however I just popped in to purchase some wool and a pattern to knit for my new niece, expected in July. I bought Sirdar Snuggly in this blue/purple colour and some mother of pearl buttons...

The pattern is a chunky aran type cardigan with bobbles round the yoke
which I'll do in a 6-12 month size.

Jack and I went to give Laura a lift home from the coast and took the dog for a long walk at the seaside.
Hornsea beach - I love it.
Definitely my 5-year plan to live there.
The tide was coming in and the sound was so calming.
Pebbles, pebbles, pebbles...I could look at them all day!
I made this chocolate cake today - just a Victoria Sponge with added cocoa and chocolate chips topped with leftover Easter egg melted chocolate and filled with fresh vanilla cream
It was gorgeous!

  1. Cake does look good. I didn't manage to get to a yarn shop, this weekend as my husband and I were struck with an awful virus.

  2. That cake looks wonderful! I have more yarn than I could use up in years but unfortunately I'm a novice and can only accomplish scarves. I envy anyone who can do the socks and sweaters.

  3. I do like a beach with pebbles. I love the shade of wool you bought, I missed my local yarn shop day which was shame. I just couldn't get there in time. I could just eat a slice of that cake now, it looks wonderful.

  6. I so wish I had a baby to knit for, I love knitting baby clothes but all the babies in our family are now grown. Archie loves going for a walk on the beach, we haven't been yet this year, though it isn't long now until our holiday. We can go early this year, earlier than the school holidays as Eleanor will have finished her GCSEs. I've never been to Needlecase, I must put it on my list so that I don't forget to go and check it out.
